Conchas Dam is a tiny community built around one of New Mexico's largest reservoirs, about 35 miles east of Las Vegas via US 104. The Depression-era concrete dam creates excellent fishing and boating opportunities. Most visitors approach from Santa Fe (90 miles) or Amarillo, Texas (120 miles), with the dam itself stretching an impressive 1,250 feet across the Canadian River canyon.
