Compton is located in south-central LA County, easily reached via major freeways including the 105, 710, and 91. The city sits about 15 miles southeast of downtown LA and 12 miles from LAX. Most visitors arrive via the 105 from the airport or the 710 from Long Beach. The area enjoys typical Southern California weather with warm, dry summers and mild winters. Compton College, established in 1927, remains the oldest community college in LA County still on its original campus.
