Comer is a small town of about 2,000 people in northeast Georgia's Madison County, sitting along Highway 72 about 20 miles from Athens. Most visitors drive Highway 72 from Athens (30 minutes) or take Highway 29 north from I-85 near Atlanta. The town serves as a rural gateway between Athens and Georgia's mountain region, with Highway 98 connecting north to the foothills.
