Columbus is a small farming town of 2,000 people along Interstate 90 in south-central Montana, about 40 miles west of Billings. It's the Stillwater County seat and sits in the Yellowstone River valley. Highway 78 runs south through town toward Red Lodge and the scenic Beartooth Highway to Yellowstone. The town serves travelers on I-90 and is notable for being near one of North America's largest platinum mines.
