Columbus, a small southeastern Kansas city near the Missouri and Oklahoma borders, sits along US Highway 69 about 20 miles south of Pittsburg. US Highway 160 connects it east to Joplin, Missouri (35 miles), while State Highway 7 runs east-west through town. The area features rolling prairie typical of the region.
