Columbus AFB is a small Mississippi military community built around the Air Force base that trains pilots. Located 8 miles southeast of Columbus via Highway 50, it connects to major routes through US-82 and US-45. The Golden Triangle Regional Airport sits 15 miles northeast. The base is famous for training Air Force pilots using T-6 Texan II aircraft that constantly practice overhead.
