Colo is a small farming town in central Iowa, about 20 miles northeast of Ames via Highway 210. Most visitors arrive from Interstate 35, taking the Ames exit and heading east on Highway 210. The town sits in typical Iowa prairie country with corn and soybean fields. Its restored 1920s Sinclair gas station, now a historical museum with original pumps, serves as the town's most distinctive landmark.
