Colfax is the Whitman County seat in Washington's Palouse region, reached via US Highway 195 about 60 miles south of Spokane or 16 miles north of Pullman. State Route 26 intersects Highway 195 in town, connecting other agricultural communities across the rolling wheat country. The area's most distinctive feature is the 65-foot Codger Pole, one of the tallest totem poles in the Pacific Northwest.
