Coldwater is a small farming community in southwestern Kansas where US Highway 160 and Kansas Highway 183 intersect. It's about 140 miles from Wichita via US-54 west through Pratt, then US-160. The town serves as a hub for the surrounding agricultural area, with routes connecting to Medicine Lodge and Ashland. Named after Coldwater Creek, the town was founded in 1884 when settlers were drawn to the area's reliable water source.
