Colby is a small Wisconsin farming community of 1,900 people in Marathon County, accessible via Highway 13 north-south and Highway 97 east-west. Most visitors arrive from Wausau, about 25 miles away via Highway 97 to US 29. The town is famous as the birthplace of Colby cheese, first made at the local cheese factory in 1885.
