Cockrell Hill is a tiny city of 3,700 people completely surrounded by Dallas in southwest Dallas County. I-35E runs along its eastern edge with direct access to downtown Dallas 8 miles northeast, while Highway 183 cuts through the north side near Love Field Airport just 3 miles away. Local routes use Hampton Road for north-south travel and Camp Wisdom Road for east-west connections. The city maintains its own police department and city hall in a single brick building on Hampton Road despite being entirely enclosed by Dallas.
