Coatesville lies 40 miles west of Philadelphia in Chester County, connected by US Route 30 (Lincoln Highway) running east-west through town. Route 82 provides north-south access to West Chester and Delaware. Most visitors arrive via Route 30 from I-76 or US Route 1 near Philadelphia. The former steel town sits in Pennsylvania's Piedmont hills along Brandywine Creek, and its old Pennsylvania Railroad station downtown now serves as a community center.
