Clyde is a small village of about 2,000 people in Wayne County, sitting along the Erie Canal about 25 miles east of Rochester. Route 31 runs right through town, connecting it west to Rochester and east toward Syracuse, while Route 414 provides north-south access from the Finger Lakes region. The village sits in flat, fertile farmland typical of the Erie Canal corridor and retains its agricultural character. Clyde features one of the few remaining operational swing bridges along the entire Erie Canal system.
