Closter is a quiet Bergen County suburb 15 miles northwest of Manhattan, reached via the Palisades Interstate Parkway to Exit 2. Route 9W runs north-south through town while Closter Dock Road connects east-west to neighboring communities. The borough sits in rolling Palisades terrain with tree-lined residential streets. Its historic one-room schoolhouse from 1896 still stands on Ruckman Road as a local museum.
