Clinton is a college town on I-20, about 10 miles west of Jackson. Most visitors take the interstate from Jackson (15 minutes) or continue cross-country between Vicksburg and Alabama. Highway 80 runs through downtown, while local routes include Highway 18 north to Ross Barnett Reservoir. The humid subtropical climate brings hot summers and mild winters with plenty of rain. Mississippi College, founded in 1826 as the state's oldest college, gives Clinton its distinctive campus atmosphere.
