Clinchport is a tiny mountain community of just 44 people in Virginia's far southwest corner along the Clinch River. Access is via winding US Route 23 or US Route 58, with the nearest interstate about an hour northeast. Most visitors arrive from Kingsport, Tennessee, or other regional towns through scenic Appalachian roads. The settlement got its name from serving as a river crossing point for early mountain travelers.
