Clifton Forge is a small mountain town in western Virginia's Alleghany Highlands, accessible via US Route 220 from I-64. The former railroad hub of 3,400 sits along the Jackson River, surrounded by the George Washington National Forest. Most visitors arrive from Roanoke (50 miles south) or use the town as a gateway to Hot Springs resort area. The restored 1905 C&O Railway depot downtown now houses a railroad museum.
