Clifton is a remote former copper mining town in southeastern Arizona's mountains, about 50 miles south of Interstate 10 via the winding US Highway 191. Located near the New Mexico border in a narrow canyon, it's surrounded by rugged desert peaks and sits at 3,500 feet elevation. The historic downtown features early 1900s buildings built right into the canyon hillside above the San Francisco River.
