Clever is a small Missouri town of 3,000 people located 20 miles southeast of Springfield via Highway 14. The 30-minute drive passes through Ozark farmland and wooded hills. Highway 160 connects from the east through Nixa, while longer trips use US 65 through Springfield. The town was named after Civil War postmaster Clever Filler.
