Clermont is a farming town of 627 people in northeast Iowa's Fayette County. Highway 18 runs east-west through town, connecting to Postville and Fayette, while County Road W14 heads north-south into rural areas. Most traffic is local, though some visitors use it as a route toward Dubuque about 25 miles south. The town's old limestone quarry created striking rock formations that remain visible today.
