Clermont is a small mountain town of about 1,200 people on Lake Lanier's eastern shore, roughly 60 miles northeast of Atlanta. Take I-985 north to Exit 8, then GA-129 north through Gainesville to reach this Blue Ridge foothills community. The town serves as a gateway to Lake Lanier's recreation areas and sits directly below Yonah Mountain, a striking 3,166-foot granite peak that's popular with hikers.
