Cle Elum is a former coal town on I-90 in the Cascade foothills, about 90 minutes east of Seattle. Most visitors arrive via Interstate 90, with State Route 903 connecting to nearby Roslyn and recreation areas. The town sits at 1,900 feet elevation with snowy winters and serves as a natural stopping point for cross-state travelers. The Carpenter House Museum preserves a 1914 boarding house with original furnishings exactly as miners left them.
