Clayton is a small county seat in southeastern Oklahoma with 568 residents, accessible via State Highway 2 from Antlers (15 miles west) or the Arkansas border. Highway 144 runs north-south through town toward Broken Bow. Most visitors are passing through on longer road trips to outdoor areas like Sardis Lake and Ouachita National Forest. The 1910 courthouse still anchors the town square as the seat of Pushmataha County.
