Clayton is a small city of about 11,000 people nestled in the hills 35 miles east of San Francisco. Highway 4 is the main route in, connecting west to Martinez and Concord or east toward Antioch. The city serves as a gateway to Mount Diablo State Park, whose summit offers views spanning from the Sierra Nevada to the Farallon Islands on clear days.
