Clayhatchee is a small Dale County town of about 400 people located between Enterprise and the Florida border via State Route 134. Most visitors arrive from Dothan (25 miles) via US 84 west or from Enterprise (15 miles) to the north. The town sits in Alabama's Wiregrass region among pine forests and farms, with Enterprise Municipal Airport about 20 minutes away. The name comes from Creek Indian words meaning "red clay," referencing the distinctive reddish soil throughout the area.
