Clarksdale sits in the Mississippi Delta along US Highway 61, about 70 miles south of Memphis. The historic blues town connects to Oxford via State Route 6 and serves as a gateway to Delta communities. Most visitors drive down from Memphis or up from Jackson on US 61, while locals make quick trips to nearby Cleveland or Tutwiler. The legendary crossroads where Robert Johnson supposedly sold his soul to the devil is right downtown at the intersection of US 61 and US 49.
