Clarkedale is a small farming town in eastern Arkansas, about 15 miles southwest of Memphis via I-40 and Highway 77. The community of under 500 people sits in prime Delta cotton and soybean country, with flat agricultural fields extending in all directions. Most visitors arrive from Memphis using the I-40 to Highway 77 route, while longer trips from Little Rock follow I-40 east for about 120 miles. The town's proximity to the Mississippi River levee means residents can often hear towboats on the river during quiet evenings.
