Chireno is a small East Texas town of 589 people tucked into the Piney Woods between Nacogdoches and San Augustine. Highway 21 runs right through town, making it an easy 15-mile drive from Nacogdoches or a longer haul from Houston via US 59. The area sits along the historic El Camino Real, the old Spanish colonial trail to Louisiana.
