Cheyenne is a small western Oklahoma town along US Highway 283, about 20 miles from the Texas border. The courthouse square features a striking 1930s sandstone building with Art Deco details. Most visitors arrive via US 283 from Oklahoma City (two hours southeast) or Amarillo (90 minutes south), passing through wheat country and shortgrass prairie typical of the Great Plains region.
