Chevak is a remote Yup'ik village on Alaska's western coast, 270 miles west of Bethel. No roads connect it to anywhere - you can only fly in through Chevak Airport or arrive by boat during summer. The community of 494 people maintains traditional subsistence hunting and fishing practices that have sustained Yup'ik culture for millennia.
