Chestertown sits on Maryland's Eastern Shore along the Chester River, about 70 miles from both DC and Baltimore. Most visitors take US Route 213, either north from the Bay Bridge area or south from Delaware. The colonial town hosts Washington College and features 18th-century architecture along High Street, including the Hynson-Ringgold House with a War of 1812 cannonball still lodged in its brick wall.
