Chester is a small South Carolina city about an hour south of Charlotte via I-77 and Highway 9. The historic courthouse square anchors downtown, surrounded by well-preserved 19th and early 20th-century buildings. Highway 72 connects Chester to Rock Hill and other Piedmont communities. Chester State Park features a 160-acre lake formed by damming Fishing Creek during the Depression era.
