Chester is a Mississippi River town in southern Illinois, accessible via the Chester Bridge from Missouri or scenic Route 3 from the Illinois side. Most out-of-town visitors take I-55 to Exit 109, then Route 51 north to Route 150 into town. As Randolph County's seat, Chester claims fame as Popeye creator E.C. Segar's hometown, with a bronze statue of the sailor in the town square.
