Cheboygan sits where the Cheboygan River meets the Straits of Mackinac at Michigan's northern tip. US-23 provides the main north-south route, while State Route 27 connects to I-75 and the Mackinac Bridge. Most visitors arrive via I-75 from downstate Michigan. The historic 1877 Opera House downtown still hosts live performances with its original hand-painted stage curtain.
