Chatham is a growing community of about 15,000 people located ten miles southeast of Springfield via Route 4. Most visitors arrive on Interstate 72 from either direction, connecting through Springfield from I-55. The town sits on typical Illinois prairie with a continental climate. Electric vehicle charging is available in nearby Springfield along the interstate corridors. The historic Chatham Railroad Museum occupies a restored 1902 depot from the old Chicago and Alton Railroad line.
