Chatfield is a small farming community in southeastern Minnesota, about 20 miles south of Rochester on Highway 52. The town sits in a valley along the Root River, surrounded by the rolling hills and limestone bluffs of the Driftless Area. Highway 30 runs east-west through town, connecting to the popular Root River State Trail system. The Chatfield Brass Band, established in 1880, is the oldest continuously operating brass band in Minnesota.
