Charleston is a small Missouri town of 4,500 people in the southeastern Bootheel region, serving as Mississippi County's seat. Interstate 57 runs right through town, connecting to Cape Girardeau 45 miles north and Tennessee 60 miles south, while US 62 heads west to Sikeston and east toward Kentucky. The historic 1908 red brick courthouse anchors the town square and remains the county's government center.
