Ceres is a Central Valley farming town 15 miles south of Modesto on Highway 99. The city connects north to Sacramento and south to Fresno, with Route 132 running east-west toward I-5. It's a popular rest stop for long-distance travelers and serves valley commuters heading to Modesto or Turlock. The town has operated the same Saturday farmers market on Lawrence Street since 1979.
