Central City is a small Arkansas community in Sebastian County, about 15 miles southeast of Fort Smith via Highway 22. The town sits in the Arkansas River Valley's rolling hills where the Ouachita Mountains meet river bottomland. US Highway 71 provides the main north-south connection, while Interstate 40 through Fort Smith links to major cities. Fort Smith Regional Airport is 20 miles away. The community was named for its location roughly midway between Fort Smith and the Oklahoma border.
