Cedar Point is a tiny East Texas timber town of 328 people, reached via Highway 190 from Livingston or through the Sam Houston National Forest on State Highway 156. About 70 miles northeast of Houston, it sits deep in the Piney Woods where towering pines and hardwoods create a natural canopy. The community still operates one of Polk County's few remaining active sawmills.
