Catlettsburg sits where Kentucky meets Ohio and West Virginia at the confluence of two major rivers. US Route 23 connects it to Ashland five miles south, while US Route 60 follows the Ohio River east-west. Most visitors come from Ashland via US 23 or from Huntington on US 60. The town of 1,500 is dominated by Marathon Petroleum's massive refinery, one of the Midwest's largest.
