Castor is a small Louisiana town of about 325 people located 45 miles southeast of Shreveport in Bienville Parish. Drivers reach it via Interstate 20 to Exit 47, then south on Highway 154 through pine forests and farmland. The area sits in rolling hill country between the Mississippi lowlands and Ouachita foothills, with a humid subtropical climate. The town is named after Castor Creek, which flows through the area toward the Red River.
