Castlewood is a farming town of 804 people in eastern South Dakota, about 50 miles northwest of Sioux Falls via I-29 and Highway 22. The community sits in rolling prairie country where corn and soybeans dominate the landscape. Highway 22 connects it east to Watertown, while Highway 81 runs north-south through the area. The town's water tower features a distinctive castle design with turrets that's visible for miles across the flat farmland.
