Castalia is a tiny farming community of 142 people in northeast Iowa's hill country, about 15 miles from Decorah via county roads. Reach it from major cities by taking Interstate 35 to US Highway 18, then local roads westward. The town sits in Iowa's Driftless Area near cold-water springs that feed the Upper Iowa River, creating some of the state's best trout fishing spots.
