Cassoday is a tiny Flint Hills town of 154 people in Butler County, sitting on Highway 177 between El Dorado and the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve. Most visitors arrive via Highway 54 from Wichita (45 miles) or Interstate 35 from Kansas City, using the Cassoday exit. The town hosts an annual Prairie Chicken Festival celebrating the elaborate mating rituals of greater prairie-chickens on the surrounding grasslands.
