Carytown is a small Missouri community of 365 people in Jasper County, about 15 miles northeast of Joplin via I-44 Exit 22 and local roads. Most visitors arrive from Joplin using Highway 171 north or from Springfield via I-44 west. The town sits in rolling prairie country where the Ozarks meet the Great Plains, with Joplin Regional Airport 20 miles southwest. The 1895 one-room schoolhouse still stands as the town's historic centerpiece.
