Carthage is a small farming town in east-central Indiana, about 45 miles east of Indianapolis via I-70 and State Road 44. The hour-long drive passes through typical Midwest agricultural country with corn and soybean fields. State Road 44 serves as the main route through town, connecting to Rushville and continuing toward Ohio. The town's massive concrete grain elevator from the 1920s still towers over the community and serves local farmers.
