Carthage is a tiny Arkansas community in Dallas County, about 30 miles southeast of Hot Springs on Highway 7. The main routes are Highway 7 running north-south and Highway 229 east-west, connecting to larger roads near Fordyce. Most visitors come from Hot Springs or pass through on rural drives. The town sits on former Missouri Pacific Railroad land, with old rail bed traces still visible in the surrounding countryside.
