Carrizozo is a small ranching town at the intersection of US Highways 380 and 54 in south-central New Mexico's high desert. Most visitors pass through traveling between Roswell and Socorro or heading north-south on Highway 54 toward Alamogordo or Santa Fe. The town serves as Lincoln County's seat and sits near the dramatic Valley of Fires lava flow.
