Carmi is a small county seat in southeastern Illinois, home to about 4,800 people near the Wabash River. Reach it via Illinois Route 1 from Interstate 64 (15 miles north) or Route 14 from Indiana. The 1886 courthouse with its prominent clock tower dominates the town square.
